COVID 19: Party leaders meeting on Wednesday: Parliamentary operations to continue

Party leaders are expected to meet on Wednesday to decide next sessions of Parliament amidst three members tested positive for COVID 19, parliamentary official said

More than 15 MPs who came into contact with infected MPs are now placed under quarantine.

Parliament is scheduled to meet next week, but final decision will be taken at the meeting on Wednesday convened by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Meanwhile, Dhammika Dasanayake, Secretary General of Parliament says operations of parlaiment is continuing adhering to health guidelines.

In a press release the Parliamentary Secretary General said that areas where infected MPs were present disinfected and staff members are subject to PCR tests.

He said parliamentry operations continue normally.

State Minister Dayasiri Jaysekara, SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem and Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara have been tested positive for COVID 19 within a week.

They all have been placed in quarantine facilities and recovering form the infection.
